Kia is ready to complete its SUV lineup with the pending arrival of its newest model—the 2021 Seltos. It will mark the automaker’s official entry into the subcompact crossover segment.<\/p>\n

The SUV, recently introduced through a Super Bowl commercial, is positioned between the Kia Soul and Sportage and is offered at just over $23,000. It comes with 26.6 cubic feet of cargo space, just a little bigger than the Soul with 24.2 cubic feet and smaller than the Sportage with 30.7.<\/p>\n

The 2021 Seltos is one of two new models from the Korean automaker in the crossover category, the other being the 2020 Telluride, which has successfully made a name for itself since its launch.<\/p>\n

The subcompact crossover segment has steadily gained a following among consumers similar to the popularity of SUVs. Sales significantly grew from 415,000 to 785,000 in the United States between 2015 and 2018.<\/p>\n

Among the first brands to launch subcompact crossovers are Subaru (Crosstrek in 2013), Jeep (Renegade in 2015), and Mazda (CX-30 due this year).<\/p>\n
