The Chevrolet Equinox continues to follow the footsteps of its corporate sibling, the Silverado, showing strong sales performance with 30% of General Motors’ small- to mid-size SUVs and second to the well-loved truck in overall sales volume.<\/p>\n

It’s not surprising considering the compact SUV’s value for money, thanks to its high level of specification, more-than-enough cargo space, impressive standard equipment, superb styling, and great overall design.<\/p>\n

But it looks like Chevrolet is not slowing down developing the Equinox as the automaker gives the vehicle a new styling update for the coming model year, following the positive response to the Chevrolet Blazer’s Camaro-inspired styling.<\/p>\n

The company is giving the same treatment to the Equinox, as seen at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show—it boasts of a new design language and an additional RS trim that’s expected to receive a lot of attention from customers.<\/p>\n

For the 2021 model year, the Chevrolet Equinox is bidding goodbye to its shield-style grille to make way for a bold appearance heavily inspired by the Camaro and the Blazer. It will also come with new front and rear fascias, new split-level LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, and the main LED lighting cluster.<\/p>\n

Premium Equinox trims are getting a black grille with chrome inserts, while the RS trim will have the same blacked-out treatment similar to the Blazer, along with black Chevrolet badging and side rails. Both trims will feature 19-inch wheels, but the ones on the RS will also come with Dark Android design.<\/p>\n

For the interior, the Premier will enjoy a couple of trim-specific updates such as French stitching on the upholstery and a new high-gloss black finish on the console. The Equinox RS, on the other hand, brings it a level higher with a trim-specific shift knob, black leather upholstery, and red contrast stitching on the seats, armrests, steering wheel, and shift lever boot.<\/p>\n

Judging by the styling, the RS looks more aggressive than the Premier, but both trims are offered with two engine options: the standard 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder that makes 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque paired to a six-speed automatic transmission and an optional 2.0-liter turbo-four that makes 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque mated to a nine-speed automatic. Buyers are also given the option between front- and all-wheel-drive configurations.<\/p>\n
