It’s no longer a secret that General Motors is looking to release no less than 11 new vehicles as part of its electrification efforts in the next few years. The latest batch of vehicles will be bannered by an electric Cadillac and a battery-powered Chevrolet pickup, according to a recent briefing at the company’s engineering center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cadillac sedan EV will be called the Celestiq and will reportedly be produced in small numbers in the Detroit area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s a big bet on electric vehicles,” Autotrader executive analyst Michelle Krebs told The Detroit Free Press. “GM’s in this for real.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the four new Chevrolets to be released is the Bolt EUV, which is 5 inches longer than the current Bolt <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

GM showcased 10 physical vehicles at the showroom, while the other one was presented through digital images. It also revealed that the flexible vehicle architecture to be used for the upcoming EVs will underpin a wide range of models, as well as batteries that will be jointly manufactured with LG Chem in Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to GM, the architecture will support vehicles with front-, rear-, and all-wheel-drive as well as those with one, two, or three electric motors. It also ranges up to 400 miles with batteries placed under the floors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, GM shared the 11 vehicles will roll off two assembly plants. The company expects to sell more than a million electric vehicles a year beginning 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of the four-door Celestiq, Cadillac is also set to begin production for the Lyriq in 2022, which will reportedly be the same size as the Cadillac XT5, Audi Q5, and Tesla X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also joining the massive vehicle rollout in 2025 is a large Cadillac SUV, the first two GMC Hummers, two Buick SUVs, and four Chevrolets (Bolt EUV and mid-cycle update, full-size pickup, and midsize SUV).<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
