The pickup wars have been ongoing in the United States for decades and it does not appear to be slowing down soon. In fact, reports have surfaced that the upcoming Ram TRX will be equipped with an engine that allows it to go head-to-head with the league-leader Ford F-150 Raptor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was in 2018 when Fiat Chrysler Automobiles first announced its plans to put its Ram Rebel TRX concept into production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But nothing was heard about it until a report from Allpar was recently published, citing sources claiming the production pickup will no longer be equipped with a 575-horsepower engine. Instead, a 700-horsepower engine is reportedly in the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ram has declined to comment on the reports. But experts and car enthusiasts think it makes sense, knowing that FCA’s supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 is capable of making at least 707 horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources are also saying an eight-speed automatic transmission will join the system and will be paired to a “heavy-duty” four-wheel-drive system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When FCA introduced the Rebel TRX concept to the public, the model already appeared production-ready, so it is possible there won’t be drastic changes to its overall styling and design when it arrives on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allpar’s sources are also confident the upcoming Rebel TRX will look like the yellow Ram pickup truck that can be seen in photos circulating online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The performance pickup is also reportedly getting all the comfort features from Ram, including a 12-inch Uconnect infotainment screen and system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FCA has not confirmed when the new Ram TRX will arrive but information available right now points to a 2022 release. This means the truck could be unveiled sometime next year.
