The minivan segment is no longer as popular as it used to be, but Honda is not taking things lightly with its Odyssey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Japanese automaker announced that the reliable Honda minivan is getting some much-needed updates that will help it compete against other minivans from rival brands such as the revised Chrysler Pacifica and the upcoming redesigned Toyota Sienna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of the changes to the 2021 Odyssey is a revised exterior styling and a nicer interior trim for the premium variants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will come with new front-end features such as LED headlights that look similar to the Civic and Accord, a restyled grille, and a unique lower fascia. There is also going to be extra chrome and gloss black trim, while the Elite trim’s 19-inch wheels will get a different design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the interior updates, Honda is looking to make the Odyssey’s higher trims feel more upscale by giving them premium upgrades. The range-topping Elite trim, for example, will be fitted with special leather seats that have contrasting piping and stitching.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other models, meanwhile, will get tri-color floor mats, piano black trim, and revised climate controls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Honda, the second-row seats also fold differently to make them easier to move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entry-level LX trim will get the same driver-assistance features that were previously released as standard features on all other models. A rear-seat reminder system will also be installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of powertrain, there will be no changes to the upcoming Odyssey. It will still be powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that makes 280 horsepower paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. But Honda made it clear that the Odyssey will not offer an all-wheel-drive version unlike the Sienna and the Pacifica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The updated Honda Odyssey is expected to debut at the New York auto show next month while sales are set to begin later this year.
