No global outbreak is going to stop Chevrolet<\/a> from reclaiming its number 2 position back from Ram in America’s truck wars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been a year since Ram overtook Chevrolet as the second-best-selling pickup truck in the United States and the brand seems adamant not to relinquish the spot to its old owner just yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The automaker’s latest generation of Ram 1500, as well as the Ram 1500 Classic, is making it hard for General Motors to return to the position it has held for years. This isn’t to say, though, that the current generation of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is not a good deal. Although when compared with its Ram rival, it appears lacking in some ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But this is not enough to deter Chevrolet in any way, as the brand has eked out a small win over Ram for the first quarter of 2020. The company is currently positioned as no. 2 among the best-selling vehicles in America. Ford’s F-150 and the entire F-Series lineup, meanwhile, managed to retain the top spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the release of official sales reports for the first three months of the year, data shows that the Chevrolet Silverado recorded a 27 percent sales increase in Q1 of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. This accounts for a total of 144,734 units sold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that Ram<\/a> is now back to being number 3 with its 7 percent increase in sales for 128,805 trucks sold. This includes the entire truck lineup, consisting of Light Duty, Heavy Duty, and Medium Duty vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ford’s F-Series continue its domination of the segment with a total of 186,562 units sold despite a 13 percent slide compared to its Q1 2019 sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking all these figures into consideration, it appears Chevrolet’s strategy of offering discounts and sales incentives worked wonders in increasing general market demand for the company. It would be interesting to see, though, if the company can sustain the lead over Ram for the rest of the year given that it is not due to release an updated version of the Silverado until sometime next year.
