As the company prepares to restart production on May 18 with its dealerships expected to reopen across the United States, General Motors is rolling out new safety measures to keep its facilities clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through an announcement, GM shared that all its divisions— Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Buick—will now adopt a new set of protocols to keep their customers and employees safe and healthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dubbed as the CLEAN Program, it will provide disinfecting and sanitizing guidelines to dealerships based on the same guidelines followed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It will also includes a list of CDC- and EPA-approved disinfectants that can be used to clean showrooms and vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of GM’s four divisions agree to adapt the CLEAN Program for new, used, and serviced vehicles. It will also be imposed in all high-traffic areas in a dealership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GM, however, clarified that the program is based on dealer participation and is not mandatory. Dealers who do not wish to join the program won’t face sanctions, although it seems highly illogical not to do so given that this could put customers’ minds at ease while the pandemic is still far from being controlled, especially in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the significant drop in car sales in the previous months, the latest data show that customers are still eager to buy new cars and take advantage of generous deals from dealerships such as 0% interest financing.
