The spanner light (often called wrench light) lights up randomly could indicate a problem with the vehicle's powertrain, or it is a maintenance reminder. Other reasons it is lighting up are:
1. Maintenance reminder. A scheduled maintenance is due to be done. It can light up at a certain interval or after a certain period since the last service.
2. A sensor or a minor fault issue with the sensors in the powertrain or emissions control systems.
3. Loose or faulty gas cap. Ensure the gas cap is fully closed and tightened.
4. Electronic glitch. The least is some glitch in the vehicle's onboard computer system.
