Hi there,
The fact that your car works in the 3rd gear onwards, but not in drive or drive 1, strongly suggests an issue within the transmission control system or other internal components related to those gears. Here are the possible causes:
- A problem with the shift solenoids. A possibility of faulty, stuck, or wiring problems. There might be a bad pressure control solenoid.
- Valve body issues. if there is wear and tear damage, it could result in malfunctions in those gear selections.
- Low or dirty transmission solenoids. Possible low or dirty transmission fluid which could result in erratic shifting or failure to engage Drive mode.
- Internal transmission damage. If a sprag/one-way clutch or internal gear has failed, it could cause those symptoms.
- Input or Output speed sensor failure. If any of these sensors fail, the transmission may not shift correctly into Drive.
Still, it is best to have your vehicle checked by a professional mechanic for proper and systematic troubleshooting and repair. I hope this helps!
