This code means the Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) has detected a small leak — basically, fuel vapors are escaping from somewhere they shouldn’t. The EVAP system traps fuel vapors from the gas tank and routes them to the engine to be burned, rather than venting them into the atmosphere.
To try to fix it, start by checking (or replacing) your gas cap. If that doesn’t work, inspect the hoses and valves around the EVAP system, especially near the charcoal canister. The code means there's a small vapor leak somewhere, not a fuel leak, and it's common on older Grand Cherokees.
