If your 1997 GMC Sierra only clicks once when you try to start it, even though the battery, starter, and fuel are good, the issue is most likely in the starting circuit—not the fuel system. A single click usually means the starter solenoid is trying to engage but isn’t getting enough current to turn the engine over. This can be caused by corroded or loose battery cables, a bad ground connection, or worn contacts in the starter solenoid itself. Start by cleaning and tightening all battery terminals and the ground strap that runs from the engine block to the frame. If those check out, try jumping the starter directly to see if it cranks. If it does, the problem is likely the starter relay, ignition switch, or neutral safety switch. A voltage drop test while cranking can also help pinpoint exactly where power is being lost. Hope this helps!
