On a Ford Edge SEL, the check engine light does not turn on automatically at a certain mileage: there's no "mileage sensor" for that. The light only comes on when the vehicle's computer detects a fault from one of the engine or emissions sensors. If your tester is pointing to a Bank 1 exhaust-related issue, the most common causes are an oxygen (O2) sensor, an air-fuel ratio sensor, a small exhaust leak, or sometimes a catalytic converter efficiency warning. These can trigger the light even if the vehicle still drives normally.
Since your Edge has the Ford EcoBoost and already has higher mileage, it's also worth checking for things like a tired upstream O2 sensor, carbon buildup, or a small leak in the exhaust before the catalytic converter. Turbo problems are usually accompanied by noticeable symptoms like loss of power, smoke, whining noises, or boost-related codes, so if you’re not experiencing those, the turbo itself is less likely to be the cause. The best next step is to scan the exact diagnostic trouble code (something like P0420, P0133, etc.), since that will point much more precisely to whether it’s a sensor, catalytic converter, or something minor in the exhaust system.
