P0012 means your "A" camshaft position is over-retarded on the intake side. Basically, the engine's variable valve timing (VVT) system isn't responding correctly. Since you've already replaced the cam position sensor and spark plugs and cleared the code, the usual suspects now are...
The VVT system itself. Focus on it. The most common culprit at this stage is a dirty or failing oil control valve (OCV)/variable valve timing solenoid. This valve controls oil pressure to the cam phaser, and sludge buildup can prevent it from working properly. Try replacing or at minimum cleaning it. Speaking of oil, check your oil quality and level: the cam phaser is entirely oil-pressure driven, so dirty, low, or wrong-viscosity oil will trigger P0012 every time. If you just had an oil change, confirm the correct oil grade was used. Finally, if the OCV checks out, the cam phaser itself may be worn or stuck, which is a more involved repair but common on some higher-mileage engines. Start with the OCV/VVT solenoid; it's the most affordable next step and resolves this code the majority of the time.
Hope this helps!
