The 2019 Honda Fit LX actually does not have a traditional EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. Honda eliminated the conventional EGR system on the Fit's 1.5L L15B7 engine and instead meets emissions requirements through internal exhaust gas recirculation, which is managed electronically via the variable valve timing (i-VTEC) system. Essentially, the engine's valve timing is precisely controlled by the ECM to reintroduce a calculated amount of exhaust gases back into the combustion cycle; no physical EGR valve needed.
So if you're chasing an EGR-related trouble code, the fix won't involve replacing a traditional valve. Instead, focus on:
- The i-VTEC/VTC system and its oil control solenoids
- Oil quality and level — the VTC system is oil-pressure dependent
- The throttle body, which can mimic EGR issues when dirty
- Any intake manifold vacuum leaks
If a shop or scanner is pointing you toward an EGR fault on this vehicle, it's worth double-checking the diagnosis. Hope this helps!
