Answer Question
Told my 2005 Honda Civic 1.7 reman "job is done", then not. What's the most likely component with shift problem
(1) This 85 year old guy owns a 2005 Honda Civic LE 1.7. I hit something, broke a flange that holds one bolt - knowing it also needs a reman – since it whines.
On Aug 7, I left it at a known transmission repair shop - who also sent it to a machine shop. On Friday AM, the owner called, said “Your job is done.” An hour later, another call and, “We found something, so it’ll be later” – But, no call the rest of Friday.
So, this customer is worried, and I asking your help – so I can talk with them tomorrow:
A. Should a reman job start with an OBDII code search? – No check engine light found beforehand. B. If that “something” when the “job is done” is a shift problem, I know it could be several things, but which is most likely? - C. What next step do you suggest? – Thank you. Dld789@aol.com.
