Answer Question
2014 Kia Sorento 4 cylinder engine, 176,500 miles, shudders while driving at any speed, No Engine Light, stumbles
At first the P0420 code came up, and I was told to replace the O2 Sensors, I did, and it made it worse, then I had remove the top sensor in order to drive it back home, that's when I found out that the first Catalytic Converter was shot, the Honey Comb inside was broken all up and it had fallen down on top of the bottom Catalytic Converter!!
I was able to clean the bottom Cat, but I had to replace the top one!! So I thought that was my problem, No, the problem is still there!! The Fixing of the Cats were a Side Problem to what is going on with this Kia!! I had kept the old O2 Sensors and I had to replace the Bank 1 Sensor with the old one because before the Cats were replaced, the engine light came on solid and it read that the heater side of the sensor was Too Hot!! So much for replacing them with new ones!!
I had washed my truck after I replaced the Cats, and afterwards it Really Ran Like Crap as if the Gas Tank Filler Hose is leaking water into the gas tank!! So right now I have been using, "Heet" to try to dry it it out after every other fill up and I have been putting clear tape over top of the door going to the gas fill cap!! But it still seems to be Alot of Stumbling and Jerking when ever I try to give it gas to start off from a red light or a stop sign, and I am a Uber and Lyft Driver, so I really need to get this fixed!! This truck has had been hit 4 times in the rear end and 1 time in the front!! I found this out after I was rear ended about a year ago while Ubering, a woman was on cell phone and didn't see that I was waiting for the red light to change when she hit the back of me going about 30 to 40mph!!
This engine was replaced when it had 108,300 miles on it, about 2 years ago, cost me nothing, thanks to the Defect from the Factory, but a month after the rebuilt engine went in the Cats were replaced and then about 6 to 7 months later I was rear ended and I do think that's what took out the Top Cat, because it also was cracked on the top side of it and the bottom side of it!! Plus All Of the Honey Comb inside was busted up!!!
When I first had a problem with my truck jerking when ever trying to go up a small incline road it would jerk Alot!! So I first took it back to the store who replaced both Cats and their mechanic and I rode around in it with his scanner hook up to my truck and even though he could get it to jerk Alot, it Never showed Anything on His Scanner Tablet!! I was in the passenger seat and couldn't see anything come up like No Error Codes!! He told me that he thinks that the Spark Plug Coils Are Bad, even though No Engine Light On or Flashing, and I did tell him that it was only the engine light on solid and the code read as a P0420 twice, but I was able to erase it and at the time frame that we were driving around the Code Never Showed Up, or Any Other Codes!!
Someone else told me that it was probably bad O2 Sensors, so I replaced them and like I said, it made it worse!! The only reason why I could think of why it made it worse is because after I pulled off the top Cat, the bottom O2 sensor sticks out into the housing, and by me pulling it out, and if it was all cracked up inside, then the old sensor was holding it up until I pulled it out and replaced it!!?? It's the only thing that makes any sense, since right afterwards it took out the top sensor and the top Cat got clogged!!
I am more leaning towards the Fuel Filter in the gas tank, every thing I have been reading about tells you to replace it every 90,000 miles and I have had this SUV since it had 76,400 miles on it!! Plus I forgot to mention, that even driving at 60 mph in cruise on the highway, it will feel like a Shuddering as if I was taping the brakes and it will keep doing it for about 5 times and then it just keeps driving as if nothing happened!! Then it will continue to do it on and off like about every 20 minutes or so!!!
I still keep the plastic tape on the filler lid after I fill it up, but it still has problems and Now I see that you guys, Don't Have My Fuel Filter/Pump any more, and I will have to see if another auto parts store has it, I don't care to pay $565 thru Kia!!
Please Advise Me The Best Answer Possible So I Can Drive Knowing That My SUV Is Fixed!!!???
