Why the intermittent code 305 in my 1998 4runner? Fuel injectors?
Hi and thanks. I have a 305 code on a 1998 Toyota 4runner. It goes off and on now at irregular intervals since I replaced the tps, sparks, wires, air filter, fuel filter, battery, and O2 sensors. I am currently running a can of BG44K thru the gas tank with premium and it seems to occasionally perk back up to its old self, running smooth and strong rather than rough with horrible (12) mpg. The motor has 380,000 miles. Did a compression test and they are all between 75 and 90 lbs. Seems like it could be a dirty fuel injector problem. Could be time to replace the engine, tho it seemed to be running pretty strong before this started suddenly. With a slight transfer case leak, noise from the clutch and increasing sounds from the bottom of the engine, it may just be time for a rebuild or a new engine, but this one has run so well for so long... sort of the opposite of a lemon! Would that be a cherry? Anyway, I appreciate whatever suggestions you might have trouble shooting this problem...
