Pinging or dripping noise near gas tank in Jeep Liberty 2005
We last week bought a used Jeep Liberty 2005 with 93K miles on it. The second time we drove it, the engine light began flashing. When I pulled over to turn around, the car died, but it did start again. By the time I got the vehicle home, the engine light was fully on. When I got out, I heard a pinging or possibly dripping-on-metal noise in the vicinity of the gas tank. This continued for several minutes but eventually tapered off. I don't see or smell any fuel around the car or on the ground.
