The minivan may be losing popularity in the United States, but Kia does not appear to be giving up on the segment. In fact, the Korean automaker just revealed its plans to release a new generation of the Sedona minivan for the 2022 model year.

A sketch of the redesigned minivan shows crisp lines and attractive detailing on the vehicle. It’s expected to ride on a new platform, which could be the same platform that the Kia Telluride is currently on. In terms of drivetrain, the upcoming Sedona is believed to retain its naturally aspirated V-6 engine.

Kia also appears to be including a slew of family-oriented features on the minivan as well as an improved version of the lounge-style second-row seats that are seen on the current generation of the model, footrests included.

When it arrives, the new Sedona will be going up against the likes of the Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica, and Honda Odyssey.
