Hi Suzette.
If your 1996 Ford Explorer is hesitating to get fuel when you press the gas pedal, there could be several possible causes for this issue. I would suggest considering the following:
A) Check the fuel delivery system for problems. B) Air Intake Problems. C) Ignition System Faults like worn-out ignition coil, spark plugs, or spark plug wires. D) Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) or Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) issues. E) Exhaust System Blockage. F) Engine Control Module (ECM) Malfunction. G) Vacuum Leaks. H) Dirty Fuel Injectors.
A thorough assessment and even some diagnostic testing may be needed to determine the precise source of the hesitancy. I advise taking your Ford Explorer to a certified mechanic or a Ford dealership that has expertise in identifying and fixing these particular vehicles They will be able to perform a proper diagnosis and provide an accurate solution to resolve the hesitation issue effectively.
You may need some parts in the process, click this link to be directed to our website where your vehicle information has already been entered. Simply enter the part's name into the search field to get started.
We hope this helps. Have a nice day!
