2)Faulty Part: While less common, it is possible to receive a defective replacement part. If the new rack and pinion is faulty, it might start showing symptoms within a short period.
3) Alignment Issues: If the front-end alignment was done incorrectly or if there were pre-existing issues that weren’t addressed before the alignment, it could cause abnormal stresses on the steering components leading to noises.
4) Other Components: There are other parts in the steering and suspension system that can cause a clunking noise, such as tie rod ends, ball joints, sway bar links, struts, or bushings. Just because the noise started after an alignment doesn't necessarily mean the rack and pinion is the culprit.
