Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Preliminary Preparations

• Turn off the engine and engage the parking brake.
• Open the hood using the hood release handle.

Step 2: Removing Components

• To change the fender, first remove the headlight.
• Remove the wheel arch trim by following these steps:
  Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the five screws holding the wheel arch trim.
  • Remove the trim.

Step 3: Detaching Mudguard and Bumper Cover

• Use a ratchet and a 5.5mm socket to remove the three screws attaching the mudguard to the fender.
• Remove the three screws attaching the bumper cover to the fender by following these steps:
  • Spray penetrating oil on the screws for easier removal.
  • Unscrew the screws using a ratchet and a 10mm socket.
  • Access the two screws from the wheel arches.

Step 4: Shifting Mudguard and Removing Fender

• Shift the mudguard and use a ratchet, an extender, and an 8mm socket to unscrew the fender retaining screw.
• Open the door and unscrew the retaining screw in the door opening using the same tools.

Step 5: Unscrewing Bumper Cover and Fender’s Metal Support

• Spray penetrating oil on the screw holding the bumper cover on the fender’s metal support.
• Unscrew the bumper cover screw from the wheel arch using a ratchet and a TORX T30 bit.
• Use a ratchet, an extender, and an 8mm socket to unscrew the screw holding the fender’s metal support.

Step 6: Removing Bumper Cover and Fender

• Remove the bumper cover from the fender by pulling it down and out.
• Use a ratchet and a 10mm socket to unscrew the three screws holding the fender along the hood then remove the old fender.

Step 7: Preparing New Fender

• Transfer the clips from the old fender to the new one then position the new fender on the vehicle.

Step 8: Aligning and Attaching New Fender

• Align the fender with the door and hood, ensuring even spacing.
• Start by replacing the three screws along the length of the hood, but avoid tightening them completely to allow for adjustment.
• Carefully close the hood then align the fender along the entire length of the hood.
• Once aligned, open the hood and finish tightening the three screws.
• Retighten the screws on the fender’s metal support then check the fender alignment with the door.
• Lock the fender by tightening the screw in the door opening then tighten the screw behind the mudguard.

Step 9: Reattaching Components

• Screw in the two screws located under the mud flap then check the fender alignment with the door again.
• Replace the mud flap and mudguard behind the fender. Screw in the two screws holding the mud flap.

Step 10: Reattaching Bumper Cover and Wheel Arch Trim

• Reinsert the bumper cover on the fender using the wheel arches.
• Screw in the two screws holding the bumper cover on the fender’s metal supports via the wheel arches.
• Screw in the three screws that hold the bumper cover on the fender.

Step 11: Finalizing Mudguard and Wheel Arch Trim

• Screw in the three screws that hold the mudguard on the fender.
• Replace the wheel arch trim and secure it with screws.

Step 12: Replacing Headlight and Emblem

• Replace the headlight. Optionally, recover the emblem from the old fender or install a new emblem.

Important Reminders

The alignment of the fender with the door and the hood must be done with both the door and hood in closed position. Start by replacing the three screws holding the fender along the length of the hood, without tightening them too much in order to keep the necessary play to adjust the alignment of the fender with the hood.

Check for proper alignment of the fender with the door. Once adjusted, lock the fender in position by tightening the screw located in the door opening.
