How to replace the serpentine belt 2014 – 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3

To replace the serpentine belt on your Silverado 3 this tutorial was tailor-made for you. Step-by-Step Installation

Chapter 1:

Disconnect the battery

For safety reasons, we advise you to disconnect the battery.

Chapter 2:

Set up

Remove the air hoses.

Chapter 2:

To do this, push on the tabs and pull on the hoses.

Chapter 2:

Using a flathead screwdriver, loosen the holding clips for the air intake duct on the air box. Then, remove the hose.

Remove the serpentine belt

We recommend taking a picture or to draw the path of the belt around the different pulleys, in order to position it correctly later.

Using a breaker bar and a 1/2″ drive extension socket, loosen the belt by turning the serpentine belt tensioner counterclockwise.

You can now remove the belt.

Remove the belt tensioner

When changing the belt, you should also replace the tensioner pulley. Using a ratchet and a 15 mm socket, unscrew the retaining bolt. Then remove the tensioner.

Put the belt tensioner back

Take the belt tensioner.

Pay attention to the pin located on the tensioner which allows it to be correctly positioned on the engine.

Put it back in its place, then screw the bolt back in roughly by hand. And screw it back in with a ratchet until it makes contact.

Finish tightening using a torque wrench.

Put the belt back

Take the new serpentine belt.

Pay careful attention to which way up you use it. The writing on the belt must turn clockwise.

You can now put the serpentine belt back in place. Slide the new belt around the different elements respecting the layout from the initial assembly.

To fully put it back in place, lift the serpentine belt tensioner in order to wind the serpentine belt onto all of the pulleys. Then release the belt tensioner to fully extend the belt.

Finalise the reassembly

Replace the air intake duct. Then screw the hose clamps back on.
