How to replace the headlight assembly 2006-2011 Honda Civic
To replace the headlight assembly on your Civic it couldnt’ be easier. You will be asked to open the hood, remove the bumper cover, remove the headlight housing as well as carry out a few other steps. You can carry out this tutorial of 10 chapters in 35 minutes. Step-by-Step Installation
Chapter 1:
Disconnect the battery

For safety reasons, we advise you to disconnect the battery.
Chapter 2:
Remove the plastic cover

Using a fork, remove the 4 holding rivets. Then remove the cover.
Chapter 3:
Remove the bumper cover

Using a ratchet, an extender and a 5mm Allen socket, unscrew the 2 upper retaining bolts on the front bumper cover.

Then, using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screw holding the bumper cover to the fender.

Do the same on the other side.

Using a fork, remove the 6 retaining rivets on the lower part of the bumper cover by prying their central parts.

Disengage the bumper cover from the fender by pulling it out and then down.

Pull the bumper cover out of its slot.

The front bumper cover is now free: you can remove it, preferably with help from a second person.

Remove the headlight housing

Use a ratchet, an extender and a 10 mm socket to unscrew the 2 bumper cover bracket retaining bolts.

Using the same tools, unscrew the bolt holding the headlight to the bracket. Then, remove the bracket.

Next, using the same tools, release the 2 retaining bolts on top of the light.

Unscrew the first retaining bolt. Hold the headlight with one hand and use the other to finish unscrewing the last retaining bolt.

You can now extract the headlight from its location.

Disconnect the headlight assembly

To remove the 3 bulb sockets from the headlight housing, turn them counterclockwise and pull them out.

Then unclip the electrical sheath from the headlight.

Take the new head light

Put the sockets into the head light housing and turn them clockwise to lock them in place.

Clip the electrical sheath back onto the headlight.

Screw the two headlight upper retaining bolts back on.

Take the front bumper cover bracket . Then install it.

Screw the retaining bolts back in.

Reinstall the bumper cover

Now you need to reinstall the front bumper cover.

Then reattach each side to the bumper cover retainers.

From the wheel arches, screw the bumper cover retaining screw back onto the fender.

Screw the 2 upper bumper cover retaining bolts back on.

Under the vehicle, put the rivets back in place.

Put the plastic cover back

Take the radiator support cover. Then position it correctly.

Remember to pass the cover under the fender mountings and the grille assembly. Then put the rivets back in place.
