How to replace the front bumper cover 2013 – 2018 Nissan Altima

To replace the front bumper cover on your Altima we’re here to help. You will need to remove the bumper cover / plastic bracket holding screws, remove the grille assembly, put the vehicle back on the ground and other steps you’ll need to follow in the correct order. Step-by-Step Installation

Chapter 1:

Lift the vehicle

Step 1/1

Loosen the stud bolts on the front wheels. Lift the front of your vehicle.Place the vehicle on the jack stands. Don’t forget to put the wheels under the vehicle!

Remove the radiator support cover

Step 1/2

In order to change the front bumper cover on your vehicle, you will need to remove the radiator support cover to have full access. Using a fork, remove the 10 holding rivets.

Then remove the cover.

Remove the bumper cover / plastic bracket holding screws

Start with the driver side. Using a multi-bit screwdriver and a 10 mm socket, unscrew the upper bumper cover retaining bolt.

Lift up the textile cover.

Next, using a ratchet and a 10 mm socket, unscrew the plastic bumper cover bracket retaining bolt.

Unscrew the upper bolt on the passenger side.

Then, using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the plastic rivet from the washer pump fluid reservoir hole on the bumper cover.

Remove it with a fork.

Then unscrew the other plastic bracket.

Then, remove it.

Chapter 4:

Remove the mudguard

Now you need to remove the mudguard. Using a fork, remove the three mudguard retaining rivets.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the other 2 rivets holding the mudguard in place.

Remove them with a fork.

Using the Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screw holding the bumper cover to the mudguard.

Using the Phillips screwdriver and the fork, unscrew the rivet holding the splash shield in place.

You can now pull back the mudguard.

Chapter 5:

Remove various components

Using a multi-bit screwdriver and a 10 mm socket, unscrew the 5 engine splash shield retaining bolts.

Remove the power connector from the fog light bulb. To do this, push on the tab and pull on the connector.

Using needle-nose pliers and a fork, remove the two cable retaining clips on the bumper cover.

Remove the power connector from the turn signal bulb socket

Next, using a ratchet, an extender and a 10 mm socket, loosen the screw holding the bumper cover to the fender.

Pull the bumper cover out of its slot.

Repeat the same steps on the other side of the bumper cover.

Then pull it out to the front to disengage the locating pins from their housings in the front fenders.

Remove the bumper cover

The front bumper cover is now free: you can remove it, preferably with help from a second person.

Screw back the bumper cover / plastic bracket holding screws

Use a ratchet, an extender and a 10 mm socket to unscrew the 2 bumper cover bracket retaining bolts.

Then, remove the bracket.

Chapter 8:

Remove the grille assembly

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the 7 bolts holding the grille assembly in place.

Then disengage the grille from the bumper cover by pushing the 10 retaining tabs.

Remove various components

Using a ratchet and a 10 mm socket, unscrew the two bolts holding the fog light in the bumper cover.

Remove the clip from the retaining tab of the fog light’s plastic trim.

Then disengage the plastic trim from the bumper cover by pushing the 5 retaining tabs.

Using a multi-bit screwdriver and a 10 mm socket, unscrew the turn signal light retaining bolt.

Press the turn signal light retaining tab.

You can now remove the light.

Prepare the new bumper cover

If the plastic seal at the top of the bumper cover is not installed on the new bumper cover, it must be retrieved from the old one.

Take the new front bumper cover.

Install the plastic seal.

Put the turn signal light back in place.

Then screw the bolt back on.

Clip the fog light’s plastic trim back on.

Then put the retaining clip back in place.

Reinsert the headlight into the front bumper cover.

Then screw the 2 bolts back on.

Put the grille assembly back

Then retighten the screws.

Put the bumper cover bracket back in place.

Then screw the 2 bolts back on.

Retrieve the plastic fasteners of the splash shield from the old bumper cover, and put them back in place.

Reinstall the bumper cover

Once all the parts have been reassembled on the front bumper cover, you can reinstall it.

Then, reinsert the bumper cover onto the fender.

Screw the 2 upper bumper cover retaining bolts back on.

Clip the bumper cover back into the side bumper cover retainer.

From the wheel arch, screw the bumper cover retaining screw back onto the fender.

Repeat this step on the other side.

Put the plastic bumper cover bracket back in place.

And screw it back on.

Then put the washer pump fluid reservoir retaining rivet back in place.

Reconnect the turn signals’ power connectors.
