To replace the outer tail light assembly on your Camry we’re here to help. You’ll need to open the hood, disconnect the battery, remove the tail light housing as well as carry out a few other steps. You can carry out this tutorial of 11 chapters in 40 minutes. Take your 10 mm wrench and your fork and let’s get started!

Open the hood
Turn off the ignition, set the parking brake. Pull on the hood release lever and open the hood.
Disconnect the battery
For safety reasons, we advise you to disconnect the battery.
Open the trunk
Pull on the trunk release handle, and open the trunk.
Set up
To access the rear part of the tail light located in the bodywork, remove the plastic hook.
Next, using a fork, remove the 2 retaining rivets from the plastic trunk sill trim by prying their central parts.
Then shift the trunk carpet.
Remove the tail light hodling nuts
Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the 3 taillight retaining nuts.
Remove the rear bumper
In order to change the outer taillight on your vehicle, you will need to remove the rear bumper cover to have full access.
The rear bumper cover is now free: you can remove it, preferably with help from a second person.
Remove the tail light housing
You can now extract the taillight from its slot.
Remove the lightbulb power connectors by pressing the tabs and pulling on the connectors.You can now remove the light.
Put the tail light back
Take the new tail light.
Reconnect the power connectors.
The light is held in place by studs encased directly in the car body.
Put the light back in.
Screw the three taillight retaining nuts back on.
Put the rear bumper back
Put the rear bumper cover back in place.
Put the trunk carpet back
Put the trunk carpet and plastic trim back in place. Put the 2 rivets back in place.Put the hook back in place.
Reconnect the battery
Reconnect the battery.
Operation complete.
