Question: How do I check if my compressor is bad 2004 Lincoln town car ?Shawn K. / Mar 18, 2021
Hi Shawn,
This part is guaranteed to fit the 2004 Lincoln Town Car Executive, Signature, Ultimate L, Ultimate, and Executive L 8 Cyl 4.6L With Air Dryer, With Rear Air Suspension. Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Air Suspension Air Compressor - 1) Vehicle riding lower than normal. 2) One of the first and most common symptoms of a problem with the air suspension compressor is a noticeably lower vehicle ride height. 3) Abnormal noises during operation. 4) The compressor won't come on.

I've had a few Town Cars, and had to replace the compressor and air bags @ 15 years/ 150k miles. Typically 1, or both, of the air bags, spring a leak and overwork & damage the compressor. It's a relatively easy replacement of the 3 parts. Some owners replace with standard coils, but I wouldn't recommend that as it does affect the ride comfort. Do it your selfers can replace the parts in @ 2 hours costing @ $250. Hope this helps.

Answered by Corey C. / Thu, Mar 182 things can go bad. My bags went out- compressor kept running. Then the compressor went. The new compressor only runs when you add weight. I get in, it runs for 30-45 seconds. Normally that’s it for the day. If you do nothing and it runs, that’s an air leak in the lines. My son and I changed out 2 bags, compressor and valves in 2 hours. U Tube is 80%.

Answered by Russell W. / Thu, Mar 18Yes your suspension will sag and will continue to turn on while driving and starting your vehicle. Will also sound louder than normal on acasions

Answered by Corey C. / Thu, Mar 18Question: My air suspension compressor went bad, and my speed odometer & power steering stop working?Anthony H. / Feb 08, 2021
Hi Anthony,
We highly recommend that a certified mechanic diagnose the vehicle to pinpoint what part needs replacement.

The two problems are probably unrelated. Best have a good mechanic check it out.

Question: I need one of these for my "97 Town Car. Can you tell me the location of the existing one on the car? ThanksWalter / Jun 13, 2021
Hi Walter, I'm glad to help you out. The air suspension compressor of the 1997 Lincoln Town Car is under the air filter box. You need to remove the air filter box to access the suspension compressor. Take advantage of the sale price and limited stocks for this item. Click this link to order this part: https://www.carparts.com/air-suspension-compressor/replacement/repm282601?can=CPAP3648
I hope this helps. Happy shopping.

Follow the noise. Mine, 2005 Town Car Presidential Sedan, is under the battery. The bags on the axle and you have change the regulator. We decided to change out the whole system to start everything new in the system. Good luck.

Answered by Russell W. / Sun, Jun 13Not sure where it is. I had a mechanic replace mine. Maybe you could "google" where it is and how to replace it.

Answered by Fred / Sun, Jun 13Question: The compressor I removed has one air hose receptacle. The new one has 2 what can I do??James D. / Jun 13, 2020
Hello! The compatibility guide below lists "air dryer" as a required option. My guess would be that your vehicle did not come with the "air dryer" option. Best bet would be to call the dealer and verify what options your vehicle came with, and the correct part number for the compressor that fits your vehicle.
