Part brittle and crumbled in my handAntenna Base Cover - Direct Fit
1.0/5
Part crumbled when I went to install it. Rubber was hard and brittle. Carparts was very understanding and promptly refunded my purchase including the shipping. I then ordered one from Toyota directly and it was softer and pliable and installed fine.

Shipping was excellent.
Product didn't fit, I tried shaving it, but no matter, could not make it fit. The product started to fall apart.

Question: Good afternoon. Do I slip this through the top of the antenna? Or does the antenna need to be removed? Thank you.Linda P. / Jan 18, 2021
Hi Linda,
You can try, but still, we recommend referring to a trusted vehicle specific repair manual for details about the removal and installation. Or, it is best to consult your trusted local auto repair shop or dealership for this if you need to.
You can find more information here as well: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/

On my 2005 toyota sienna ce I unscrewed the upper antenna section and removed the torn base with the cable section. Then I put the cable section through the new base. Before installing in fender I screwed the upper antenna section into the cable section. If the new base is warm and more flexible it seems easier to install. Its a very tight fit. A little lubricant seemed to help. I put the narrow end, opposite the antenna end, in first. Good luck. Check the carports blog mentioned first.

Answered by Richard / Mon, Jan 18I unscrewed the antenna and then had to put this into the slot, which was not very easy. If you use some type of dull, wide plastic blade (that won't scratch the paint), you might find it easier to insert the edges in that way. Then you just screw the antenna back into place.

Answered by Clark / Tue, Jan 19Remove the antenna by unscrewing it and push the new part into the hole and over the base. Then screw on the antenna.

Answered by Daniel C. / Mon, Jan 18The Antenna should be removed first.
