It's important to note that even with protective coatings, the areas of the rotors not contacted by brake pads can still develop surface rust over time. Regular driving helps mitigate this by allowing the pads to clean the rotor surfaces during braking. If rust prevention is a primary concern, you might consider applying additional rust-inhibiting sprays to exposed areas during installation.
