Hi Judy, thank you for reaching out. Yes, this does. The brake light switch sends a signal to the vehicle's ECM (electronic control module) or TCM (transmission control module). The signal allows the shifter interlock mechanism to disengage, allowing you to shift out of Park and into another gear.
