It has a matte black unfinished plastic look. (If you know what a Glock looks like, a little more matte) Hypothetically it can be used without a paint job but I personally used custom spray paint and clear coat. (Takes about 4 cans btw).
And if at all possible, you should at the very least use a clear coat, the plastic is rather soft. Not to say it’s fragile, but it can scratch easily if dropped or roughly abraded.
Also I’d recommend buying additional mounting hardware because they have a terrible habit of snapping.
