Reinforced bumper assembly, 2009 ImpalaRear Bumper Reinforcement, Steel

Would have a more complete process had the assembly included the mounting bolts. Four of the six mounting bolts sheared due to corrosion. Had to “follow-up order” mounting bolts to properly complete the installation.

Question: Can the rear bumper reinforcement on my 2011 chevy Impala be changed without removing the bumper cover?Thomas F. / Oct 04, 2020
Hi Thomas,
It is best to remove the bumper cover first to have full access to the bumper reinforcement. For step by step instructions please refer to a good repair manual. You can find more information here: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/

yes, there are bolts that can be accessed in the trunk on the inside of the fenders. Also there are two bolts on each side, .under the fender wells. you will have to pull the splash gaurds out of the way, which are held on by push pins.

Answered by Perry / Sun, Oct 04I replaced mine without taking cover off. Place bumper plastic cover on steel bumper then angle it putting it inside bumper cover first them move mount up to chassis. It does fight a little but it fits and is easier than removing everything

Answered by Eric / Mon, Oct 05Yes, but it's a whole lot easier to just get it out of the way. The bumper cover is only held on by a bunch of clips and a couple of small bolts.

Answered by Brian L. / Sun, Oct 04Question: Are the clamps included or does that need to be purchased separately?Sandi S. / Mar 19, 2022
Hi Sandi, thank you for reaching out. No, the hardware is not included. We do not sell the hardware so I would suggest getting them from a local dealer. You can use the link below to order the part while it has a huge discount. Have a great weekend!

If I remember correctly there are 8 bolts that hold it to the vehicle which are not included. You need to remove the plastic bumper cover to replace it and there are no clamps involved.
