I'm definitely giving this product 5 stars. I've been dealing with this engine light regarding the catalytic converter for about 2 years. I think I had another 3 bolt gasket laying around so I ended up using that but I would assume it goes on the output side. The little stub of pipe that extends past the flange would serve to hold the gasket in place during assembly.

There should be a flange on the cat pipe...it connects to the exhaust manifold flange...the gasket goes in between the two.
