I'm definitely giving this product 5 stars. I've been dealing with this engine light regarding the catalytic converter for about 2 years. Every mechanic or auto shop were giving me estimates in the thousands. I took it upon myself to do the research on how it's done & it sure paid off. I purchased this product from Car Parts, the shipping was quick & the product was compatible just as they said. I immediately made time to install the replacement & can guarantee that it's been great ever since. I'm grateful for car parts as well as the manufacturer for making this item affordable as well compatible. I can say that this situation has been an interesting experience that has me convinced that I can get any mechanical issues resolved without the extra expenses that mechanics tend to overwhelm us with. As long as Car Parts continues to provide affordable pricing for products that suit my mechanical situations I will continue doing my own without the excessive financial strain. Thank You Car Parts!

Question: I am in the process of installing this on my 2008 Prius, but the connection between the catalytic converters and the resonator does not seal. The 2 pipes are very different sizes, leaving much too big of a gap for the provided C clamp to close. Please advise?Ada B. / Mar 18, 2022
Hi Ada,

I had the same problem I took it to the nearest muffler shop and had it welded.

Answered by David C. / Sat, Mar 19I had to weld about 3" of pip in to take up the gap. It is a bad fit.

Answered by JENS K. / Wed, Mar 23Question: Is this 1 piece?Greg S. / Mar 16, 2022
Hi Greg, I'll be glad to assist you. No, it does not. There's a split near the hangers. It will be secured by the included clamps. You can use the link below to order the assembly while it's still on sale. Have a great one!

No, the curvy pipe at one end separates and then there's another slip joint between two of the fatter sections. If you blow up the image you can see the joints. The connections between the front two components of the catalytic converter are welded. You'll need to get a new O2 sensor also and here's how to reinstall that. I drove mine with the plastic plug in there and it melted and blew out in the first 6 seconds of driving. It sounds like the whole exhuast is disconnected when that happens, so do the sensor replacement at the same time.

Answered by Daniel M. / Wed, Mar 16This comes in 3 prices. Plan on having to get this welded or using a putty or wrap to seal the joints as you will not be able to tighten the clamps enough to compress the pipe to seal the joints.

My install was on Prius in WA state, no emissions test requirements. Donut ring was not a good fit, so used original part left behind by theives. Caution with EMC reading after market cat may still continue to throw codes. One option seen online is install/modify spark foul arrester where o2 sensor enters exhaust. A $10 fix but in some states may be deemed to tamper with emissions testing.

Image is correct. Be aware the fit at manifold is key. Mechanic highly recommended using as much of OEM parts so he weled in the converter. In hindsight since mine was stolen that's all I needed and used. I'll sell you the remaining exhaust for $75 plus shipping.

Answered by Rolando O. / Fri, Oct 01The image is correct…. No welding necessary. The pipe has a catalytic converter and two resonators that bolt up to the rear muffler. I used muffler putty in the joint to prevent exhaust leaks.
