Question: Are the joints supposed to be loose like loose enough where I can move them with one hand?Estevan / May 29, 2025
Hi Esteban, thank you for reaching out. The ball joints should not be loose enough to move freely by hand. Properly functioning ball joints have very minimal play to allow controlled suspension movement without excessive looseness. Proper inspection involves lifting the vehicle so the suspension is unloaded and checking for vertical or horizontal play using a pry bar or dial indicator, not just hand movement. If you can move the ball joint by hand easily, it is likely loose or worn and should be replaced.
