Answered by Mario F. / Wed, Nov 02Question: Is it ok to change only the upper control arms without changing the bottom control arms? 1994 GMC Sierra SLE. I just left a nationally known repair shop with a problem I am having with my steering. My steering wheel has to be held about 45 degrees about 9 o'clock to the left (when on the highway) to stay straight but the steering wheel seems to be centered and in line when the vehicle is parked. I was told my top ball joints on both sides and a inner tie rod were bad?? Any idea on what may be causing the 9 o'clock hold? Alignment was performed twice in a week but it was no help. I did have a gear box replaced (if that could cause a problem) a few months ago and have not driven my truck that much; so the issue may have been going on all the time. So I thought to change the upper control arms which seem to be a lot easier labor wise .Chuck E. / Jul 15, 2021
