I got it thinking I'd replace it while doing the thermostat then my vehicle was hard to start and wouldn't idle. So I drove it a few days and no difference so I reinstalled the old one.

It looks just like the real one. However, it is not a sensor, it is a switch that is supposed to turn the electric fan on when the coolant reaches 195° F.
I am uncertain that it works correctly because it is turning the fan on at 145° F. I will evaluate further.
