Question: My 2005 Toyota highlander front doors can't be locked or open simultaneously with remote.what is wrong?vincent A. / Oct 10, 2020
Hi Vincent,
If both are not working at the same time, please check the fuse box for the door lock actuator for the front, it is possible the fuse or relay could be busted.
Still, we recommend referring to a trusted vehicle specific repair manual for details about this problem. You can find more information here: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/
But, it is best to consult with your trusted local automotive shop or dealership for a careful troubleshooting and diagnostic.

It is likely the door actuators. I had the same issue. I replaced mine twice. It happened with one of the rear doors too. Unfortunately, after much research, this seems to be an electrical issue with this generation of Toyota Highlanders (2003-2008) and not an actuator issue. Toyota apparently knew this was happening and never corrected it. The only fix is to replace an expensive electrical board. Wasn’t worth it, so now I just use the key.

Answered by Tim H. / Sun, Oct 11If they went out separately, it could be bad actuators on both sides. Probably why they’re sold in pairs.
If they went out at the same time, it is something further down the tree.
FYI, I replaced my driver side actuator and it died again after 4 months.
