Product Review: Driveshaft for 2016 Ford Transit 250 3.7L from CarParts.com I recently purchased a replacement driveshaft for my 2016 Ford Transit 250 3.7L from CarParts.com, and I’m very satisfied with the product and overall experience. Here’s a comprehensive review that covers everything from delivery to installation. Ordering and Delivery: The driveshaft arrived promptly, well-packaged, and in excellent condition. CarParts.com handled the order efficiently, and tracking updates were timely. It was clear from the start that this was a quality product. Product Fit and Quality: The driveshaft fit perfectly and matched the OEM specifications. The construction was solid and robust, clearly designed to handle the demands of the Transit’s drivetrain. Once installed, it eliminated the vibration issues I had with the old, worn-out shaft. Installation Notes: Installation was straightforward overall, though a few critical points are worth noting for anyone planning to do the job themselves: Rubber Boot Disassembly: One of the most important steps is disassembling the rubber boot before attaching both pieces of the driveshaft together. This boot covers the connection between the two driveshaft sections and is there to protect the internal spline joint from dirt and moisture. If you skip this step or try to attach the shafts without sliding the boot back first, it can: Prevent the splines from fully engaging Cause the boot to twist or tear during movement Result in premature wear or vibration To do it properly, slide the rubber boot off one end, align and engage the splines between the two shaft sections, and then carefully reseat the boot over the joint. Ensure it’s seated snugly and sealed properly to maintain driveline integrity. Hardware and Accessories: One downside was that the kit only came with one replacement bolt flange for the transmission side. The rear differential side bolts were not included, which means you either have to reuse your old hardware or source new bolts yourself. Given the importance of torque specs and safety in driveline components, it would have been ideal to include all necessary hardware. Another small gripe: there was no thread locker (e.g., medium-strength blue Loctite) included. Since threadlocker is typically recommended for driveline bolts to prevent them from backing out due to vibration, it would have been convenient to have even a small tube included in the kit. Installation Challenge – Flange Removal: The most difficult part of the install was removing the old flange-style driveshaft. It was stubborn and required heat, penetrating oil, and some elbow grease to remove. Once that hurdle was cleared, the rest of the installation went smoothly. Overall Value: Despite a couple of minor shortcomings, this driveshaft offers excellent value for the price. It’s well-engineered, easy to install (once the old shaft is out), and solves common vibration and wear issues. The quality is on par with or better than many OEM or aftermarket options. Final Verdict: Highly recommended for anyone needing a reliable driveshaft replacement for a Ford Transit 250. Just be prepared with some basic tools, a little extra hardware, and threadlocker, and you’ll be good to go.
