Great Drive ShaftRear Driveshaft, Awd, 89.13 In. Length
5.0/5
Over the past 3 years, I have bought drive shafts for my Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX350 from Carparts.com. They fit perfectly and arrived right on time. So easy to install with 2 people under the SUV using 2 rear jacks. Customer service has been wonderful and you can actually talk to a real person! Make sure you pay the extra $39.00 for 3 year extended warranty, this is really worth it! Also ask for the 10% coupon! OEM drive shaft may last a little longer but will cost 4 times as much! Stay away from PARTS GEEK, terrible customer service.

Question: I was told my ujoint is bad on my 06 toyota highlander v-6 awd. Was also told I can't replace the ujoint that I have to replace the whole driveshaft. Is this true?Chris / Mar 12, 2021
Hi Christopher, This part is guaranteed to fit the 2006 Toyota Highlander AWD with 2.5 in. Diameter, 89.125 in. Length. if the u-joint is bad, why change the driveshaft? Is it also bad? You can ask for a 2nd opinion with a different mechanic.

Essentially, the U-joints are "staked" into the yokes, and the bearing caps are not intended to be removed, ever. I did find the U-joints on eBay, and even found a website that explains how to R&R a staked U-joint. I've done several U-joints, so I'm not afraid of doing them, I have a 20T shop press and all the tools, but the part about balancing gave me too many doubts. It's better to have a mechanic replace the new shaft. I did mine in my driveway on jackstands - I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS !

Yes you can change only the joint it’ll work,I’ll say a quick fixed, but it has more than one joint and down the road you could have a worse problem imagine you driving at 65 mph, its best to do as I did you replace the whole part it will work amazing and quieter ride smoothly, I did and it works like new.

Mine took a week longer than expected to get to my house. There was just a drive shaft laying in my driveway when I got home... No box no plastic wrap.

Question: Are the u-joints in this shaft greasable?Michele W. / Mar 08, 2021
Hi Michele, The U-joints are shipped pre-lubed, with the bearings installed on the cross trunnions. It is not necessary to grease them after installation. Down the road however you will need to grease your drive shaft to ensure a long life. A good guideline to start with is to grease your shaft every oil change.

There are no Zerk fittings on the Ujoint so you can't grease it.
JB
Answered by James B. / Sun, Mar 14
They sealed grease inside with cover for dust, do not need to.
