Hi Jasper,
This EGR Valve is guaranteed to fit the 1995 Oldsmobile 88 Royale 6 Cyl 3.8L. The symptoms of a failing EGR are; 1) Your engine has a rough idle. 2) Your car has poor performance. 3)You have increased fuel consumption. 4) Your car frequently stalls when idling. 5) You can smell fuel. 6) Your engine management light stays on. 7) Your car produces more emissions. 8) You hear knocking noises coming from the engine. So not only does EGR hamper performance by coating and then shrinking the size of the intake path, but it is also hard on engine oil, and even degrades the coolant that is used to cool off the exhaust gases passing through the EGR cooler.
