fit perfect fairly easily install note if you want to make it easier to drain oil cut a access door around drain plug and then you won’t have to remove the whole shield to do oil change my engine is alot quieter with this shield in place love it highly recommend

Purchased this for my 2002 vw beetle, Even though the fitment said it would not fit i read the reviews where it does fit. Ordered it and the holes lined up but it was just a hair to long after redrilling the 4 front screw holes to tighten it up a little it fits great. Its made in china so its not super heavy duty but it does the job and it will fit a 2002 vw diesel beetle even though the fitment said it does not. The only real gripe i have is the shipping cost almost as much as the item.

After some back and forth figuring out that this part does indeed fit my 2002 Beetle TDI, I got the part fast, the quality seems good, keeping in mind this is a splash guard NOT a skid plate, it looks like it will do the job nicely.
Customer support was quick to get back with me each time until we cam e to a final resolution.

As per checking, this item does not come with installation hardware. We suggest getting those locally through a local auto supply store or the dealership.

This is the plastic shield that attaches under the engine for it to be protected from debris and water underneath.

Hi David,
An engine splash shield protects the engine compartment from water and dirt. In some cars, the engine splash shield redirects the air flow over the components that need to be cooled down, such as an oil pan or alternator, but not the radiator.

Answered by Arnel E. / Wed, Aug 05I have an oil temp guage installed in my 2004 TDI. I know that the engine compartment stays cleaner with this installed, but, I observed a significant decrease(15 to 25 degreees F) of engine oil temp on summer days with the shield removed.
