I have a 2009 Ford Flex. Someone tried to break into my car and broke off the key lock of the door handle, which I found out while doing errends, is what keeps the door handle on.

Question: When the door ajar indicator won’t go off and dome lights stays on. What is the problem ?Julia C. / Jun 01, 2021
Hi Julia, I'm glad to help you out. The door ajar light can stay on for any number of reasons: 1) An electrical short in the dome light. 2) An electrical short in the anti-theft system. 3) A door switch stuck in the open position. The likely cause of a dome light not turning off is either the dashboard light control knob being activated accidentally or a broken door switch. There could be also a timer for switching off the light that is pre-built into the car.
