Hi Gary, I'm glad to assist you. This is moderately easy but with several parts to be removed first. This requires removal of the interior door handle, the main window control switch panel, the door trim panel and the plastic insulation cover or barrier with seal that protects from rain water in between the door panel and door shell. You have to use a hard silicone spatula to unclip the door panel grommets to avoid damaging the clip grommets. You will use a screw driver to remove the door handle. Once those parts are removed you can lower down the plastic cover on the back of the door handle. Unclip the steel rods connected to the door handle latch. Then use a rachet with a 10 or 8mm bolt socket to untighten the 2 bolts of the exterior door handle. Replace the door handle and tighten with the 2 bolts again. Yes, you keep the original locks. Make sure you keep track of what connects to what. It is a bit awkward trying to attach everything with limited space for hands, as I recall. I made the mistske of trying to force the door open when it's frozen and these poorly designed handles can't take it.

The lock assembly is removable, I recommend replacing the lock assembly, I have as has another Toyota owner. My Tacoma has three major locks, two door handle, one ignition and the passenger airbag; all replaceable.
