Question: My truck has this fender as well as an inner fender that connects to the outer one which is was this website is selling. My truck inner fender is fine but the outer fender is rusted. If I pull the outer fender off, will the inner come out with it? If I buy this outer fender, will I also need to buy the inner fender? Am I going to need to weld this new outer fender on the existing inner fender on truck? Thank youAustin K. / Sep 03, 2020
Hi Austin,We recommend referring to a good repair manual for step by step instructions. You can find more information here: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/ you may also check https://www.carparts.com/blog/auto-repair/diy/

I ordered thinking it was both inner and outer fender together like the original parts, wrong. It's just the outer fender, I got lucky and only needed the outer fender thank God. It was easy to reattach to the new outer fender. I drilled out all the spot welds separating the old outer from the old inner and pop riveted the new outer to the old inner. I was also surprised that all the holes lined up without being forced, bent or twisted. All and all a good experience, I hope that helps.

It depends on weather your inner fender is welded or not. Older trucks for example are welded and you will need to grind the welded seam to separate the inner from the outer. Then when you install the new outer fender you will need to reweld to finish before you paint. On newer vehicles the inner tubs are plastic and use body clips or screws to join the inner to the outer. Either way you will have to separate the two fenders to complete this job

Joe 123 or whatever your name is...yes the inner and outer fenders are spo welded from the factory. They both come off as one piece. You have two options, after removing both as a unit, you can separate them, and spot weld the old inner to the new outer, or buy both new, and spot weld them. I know someone who just fastened these with self tapping sheet metal screws, not recommended, but he's happy, and seems to be fine so far.

The proper way would be to drill out the spot welds and then weld this outer on to your inner fender, or like you mentioned, just order the inner as well. This item is just the outer portion of the fender.

Yes you will need to weld the inner and outer together. I recommend getting them together already. I bought this part and was let down

Question: Will I be able to put plastic pieces back underneath the fender??Ashon A. / Nov 09, 2020
Hi Ashton, You mean the fender liners, yes, we do carry them. To check the fitment please use our Vehicle Selector — which can be found towards the top of the homepage as well as all categories, search results, and product pages — can help verify if a part will fit your specific application. To enter your application, simply select your vehicle’s year, make, model, sub-model, and engine type and click “Go.” Once your application is selected, you’ll see a “Guaranteed to Fit” badge if the part will fit, and we recommend that you also double-check Your Vehicle Fit Details as well as the Vehicle Fitment Information table on the product page.
