Waking my long sleeping MustangDriver Side Fuel Pump, Electric, With Fuel Sending Unit

I have a '05 mustang that had not been started for at least two years and determined that it probably needed a new fuel pump (along with a new battery). The part arrived on time and visually matches the OEM part. Not being very familiar with fuel pumps, I had a question while unpacking the pump. <a href="http://Carparts.com" target="_blank">Carparts.com</a> customer support answered my question within roughly 24 hours - a reasonable response time (recognizing that every customer probably wants the answer "right now").
Once the new fuel pump was installed, I primed the pump three times by turning the ignition switch to the "on" position 3 times before cranking the engine over. The car started on the first attempt and has cranked immediately on subsequent starts since I installed it about a week ago.
Tip for other shade tree mechanics: One thing I failed to do was to check/adjust the float on the fuel level sending unit so I actually have more fuel in the tank the gage on the dash indicates.

Answered by Grace G. / Tue, Dec 07Yes only driver side. Will not work for passenger side. The passenger side is the transfer pump. It's made about the same. But just a lil different. Meaning it has no hook up on top for the gas hose. Only one on the side. And a plug in at the top. The driver side pump will have a plug in at the top and a area for your gas hose on top and the side
