Answered by Aldrin P. / Mon, Oct 03I live in Connecticut, so we do have to follow a high emission standard similar to California, although not as high, but to my knowledge, Fuel Pumps don't have to be certified, only the Catalytic converters have a larger cross section to reduce emissions even further.

The fuel sending unit is used to measure the amount of fuel in the fuel tank and communicate the fuel level to the fuel gauge on the vehicle dashboard.
