Question: Looks close to 57-58 Mercury. Your thoughts?A Shopper / Nov 22, 2020
Hi,
This is a direct fit for 1957 Ford Skyliner,1957 Ford Custom, Fairlane, and other Ford models only.
To check the fitment please use our Vehicle Selector — which can be found towards the top of the homepage as well as all categories, search results, and product pages — can help verify if a part will fit your specific application.
To enter your application, simply select your vehicle’s year, make, model, sub-model, and engine type and click “Go.” Once your application is selected, you’ll see a “Guaranteed to Fit” badge if the part will fit, and we recommend that you also double-check Your Vehicle Fit Details as well as the Vehicle Fitment Information table on the product page.

Answered by gerald L. / Mon, Nov 23Question: I have a '57 Ford Fairlane Sunliner (convertible) with a 4.8-liter V-8-- I recently replaced the old fuel sending unit as it was gummed with varnish-- Now, with the new unit, I've run out of gas while the dashboard gauge shows 1/4 tank remaining-- To me, it seems the 'float' is encountering the bottom of the tank, which stops its motion, and then allows remaining fuel to burn (while the gauge remains stuck at 1/4)--
Am I close or is there another problem I should look at? Any help greatly appreciated-- thanks, GuyGuy Y. / Nov 30, 2022
Probably a fuel sending unit is what you need because the float may have a hole in it. Check the fuel gauge by taking the wire off the fuel tank and ground it. If the fuel gauge goes completely to full when grounded, then the fuel gauge is ok.

Answered by David B. / Fri, Dec 02I think your probably on the right page, but when you take it out ground the body of sender to car and put wire on and turn key on and see if it shows empty, if it does bend float rod to depth of tank
NB
Answered by Neil B. / Fri, Dec 02Ya, its kinda old school, pull the unit out and bend the float rod up, sounds like yours needs to be bent up some. And you might not get it just right at first but youll get it,, good luck

Ford up to 1986, 73 Ohms empty and 10 Ohms full.

Thats seems to be right. The unit works very well and is worth the money. Other companies sell this unit for $62 and its no better. Buy it.

Answered by David V. / Thu, Sep 17I measured a range of 7.5 to 73.4 ohms.
