I own a 2003 XE, and have a decent amount of mechanical knowledge. I've seen some SEs with their hoods open, with and without superchargers, and I am pretty sure that the only difference between an XE grill and an SE grill is color. SEs have that "titanium" color to them, while XEs have that "pencil led" color to them.

Either grill will fit your Xterra, but on my 2003 se the color of the horizonal center bar is different.

Hey man! I have had this part on my Xterra for about a year, and I honestly can't remember if it came with the clips or not, even though I put the part on myself. I tend to reuse things like clips when I put new parts on my Xterra, and I was replacing the original grill which was still on the vehicle at the time. I did just go out to my Xterra and I looked at the clips closely. They seem pretty crisp for an 18 year old car that's never been parked in a garage in its whole life, so I'll say "I THINK the clips came with the new grill."
HOWEVER, I highly recommend this part. The color on it is DEAD ON, it looks GREAT, and it hasn't begun to sunbleach yet. Again, my car sits outside all the time, and I live in the Dallas area of Texas. We get a lot of sun light here.
