Question: Does this latch come with the mounting hardware? There is a small clip that fits over the metal the latch bolts through and one of those clips is broken in half. 1996 Ford 250Shelia J. / Jan 13, 2021
Hi Shelia, As per checking, this item does not come with installation hardware. We suggest getting those locally through a local auto supply store or the dealership.

Sorry Sheila. Those clips were not included. Along with auto parts stores, I believe they are also available at home improvement/hardware stores.

Mine did not come with the clips. A couple of washers may do the trick replacing the broken clip.

Question: I have a F150 ... 1993 ... the hood will not latch all the way. The first latch takes but not the second ... leaving the hood closure incomplete ... A spring has broken ... I have it on my desk ... but there appear to be two springs in this mechanism ... not sure what needs to be replaced ... is it the hood latch trigger spring or something else? ... different size ... the one that broke has 12 coils and extends about 2 inches from hook end to hook end ...Rick F. / Aug 29, 2022
Hi Rick, I'm glad to assist you. We only show one type of hood latch for your truck. It is a guaranteed fit with your 1993 Ford F150. Yes, it sounds like the trigger spring, it needs the tension to hold the trigger back. Without it you might get it to hold by holding the trigger back, but as soon as it starts flopping around it will open again.

I’ve always replaced the latch assembly when the spring brakes. The inner catch may be closed keeping the hood from closing. This happens when the spring isn’t doing it’s job
